As of January 1, 2015 unregistered Tier Zero engines (pre-2000) will be prohibited from operating in Metro Vancouver.

Be aware that Metro Vancouver has enacted Bylaw No. 1161 :
People who own, operate, or hire diesel powered equipment 25HP (19kW) and larger are responsible for complying with all aspects of this regulation.

What do I need to do?

OWNERS/OPERATORS – To avoid the prohibition or disruption of work in progress, you can purchase a 90-day operating period license for each Tier Zero engine in operation.

WHEN HIRING EQUIPMENT – Request engine Tier Levels of equipment being used and confirmation of compliance with Bylaw 1161 from your contractors.

What else do I need to know?

– Non-road going Tier 1 engines must also be registered and pay fees to operate.

– Failure to comply with the Bylaw may result on fines up to $200,000.

NW Fuel Injection suggests that you investigate the equipment that you are using or hiring, and be sure it complies with local Emissions Regulation Bylaws to avoid work delays or possible fines.
